In his retirement announcement, Watt thanked his family, friends, and fans for their support throughout his career.

“It’s been an absolute honor and a privilege to play this game that I love,” Watt wrote. “I’ve met some incredible people and made memories that will last a lifetime.”

Watt also thanked the Steelers for giving him the opportunity to play for them in the final season of his career.

“I’m so grateful for the opportunity to have played for the Pittsburgh Steelers,” Watt wrote. “It was an honor to wear the Black and Gold and play in front of the best fans in the world.”

  • Watt was drafted by the Houston Texans with the first overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft.
  • He was named Defensive Player of the Year three times (2012, 2014, and 2015).
  • He was selected to the Pro Bowl five times (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2018).
