Sigourney Weaver, born Susan Alexandra Weaver on October 8, 1949, in New York City, always strived to pursue a career in the arts. She received her formal education and training at the Yale School of Drama, graduating in 1974.
Weaver's career began in the New York Theatre scene. Her first credited film appearance was Annie Hall (1977), but a more prominent role came as Warrant Officer Ellen Louise Ripley in the 1979 film Alien. This defining role propelled her into the spotlight.
