2021 Belgian Grand Prix: A Race Shortened by Rain

Overview

The 2021 Belgian Grand Prix, officially known as the Formula 1 Rolex Belgian Grand Prix 2021, was a Formula One motor race held on 29 August 2021 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Stavelot, Belgium. The race was the 12th round of the 2021 Formula One World Championship and was won by Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing.

Race Conditions

Heavy and persistent rain disrupted the race, making it difficult for drivers to maintain control of their cars. The race was red-flagged twice, with the second red flag being shown after multiple cars crashed on the opening lap. The race was eventually restarted behind the safety car, but it was only able to complete two laps before being red-flagged again due to the heavy rain. The race was eventually declared official after just three laps, with Verstappen being declared the winner.
