Jayson Tatum Leads the Way with 29 Points
The Boston Celtics took an early lead in the NBA Finals on Tuesday night, defeating the Dallas Mavericks 107-89 in Game 1. Jayson Tatum led the way for the Celtics with 29 points, while Jaylen Brown added 22 points and Marcus Smart chipped in 18 points.
The Celtics jumped out to a quick start, taking a 13-6 lead in the first quarter. The Mavericks fought back to tie the game at 20-20, but the Celtics regained the lead and never looked back. Boston led by as many as 19 points in the second half before cruising to the victory.
The Mavericks were led by Luka Dončić, who had 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists. However, Dončić was not able to get much help from his teammates, as Tim Hardaway Jr. was the only other Mavericks player to score in double figures with 15 points.
The Celtics will now have a chance to take a 2-0 lead in the series when they host the Mavericks in Game 2 on Thursday night.
